Furnace Operator
Warren, MI
Company is a UAW union facility that process steel bars and coils - cutting, straightening, heat treating and plating.
Hours: 4pm - 2am Monday - Saturday
Pay: $18.50/hr
Summary of Job:
Locates, prepares, loads, and unloads material for the coil division furnaces.
Responsible for entering the proper information into the computer system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tag and Identify coils / slugs that are going in the furnace
- Stack and stage loads going in the furnace
- Tag and identify each coil according to customer specifications
- Enter coil information into the computer system
- Starts and monitors furnace operations
- Operate various hilos to perform essential duties
- Operate overhead crane to stage loads for furnace
- Maintain a clean work environment
Other Duties:
- Performs banding, re-band, and all related tagging duties
- Read gauge micrometers to ensure proper size.
- Housekeeping duties around the shop
- Help move coils with fork truck when needed
Education, Experience, Training and/ or Skills Required:
- Fork truck license
- High school or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
Physical Demands:
The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The
employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or
crawl. The employee must regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Steel toe boots are required
Permanent position - 90 day contract to hire
