Job Overview
The Steel Tubing Quality Control Inspector ensures that steel tubing produced in the manufacturing process meets industry standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements. This role involves detailed inspections, testing, and documentation to maintain high-quality output while collaborating with production teams to address any issues.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection: Conduct visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections of steel tubing using precision tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify compliance with blueprints, technical drawings, and tolerances.
Testing: Perform non-destructive tests (e.g., ultrasonic, hydrostatic, or magnetic particle testing) and other quality assessments to detect defects or inconsistencies.
Quality Assurance: Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, identifying deviations and recommending corrective actions.
Documentation: Record inspection results, maintain detailed logs, and prepare quality reports for internal and external audits.
Defect Analysis: Investigate non-conforming products, determine root causes, and work with production teams to implement solutions.
Standards Compliance: Ensure all products meet industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ASME, or ISO) and customer-specific requirements.
Equipment Calibration: Verify and calibrate inspection tools and testing equipment to maintain accuracy.
Collaboration: Communicate findings with operators, supervisors, and engineers to improve processes and prevent quality issues.
Safety: Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in quality control, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
Experience in quality control or inspection, ideally in steel tubing or metal manufacturing.
Proficiency with precision measuring tools and testing equipment.
Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) and ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for identifying defects and inconsistencies.
Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation (e.g., Microsoft Excel, quality management software).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical ability to handle tubing samples and stand for extended periods.
Certification in quality control (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector) or non-destructive testing is a plus.
Work Environment
Manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
May involve rotating shifts, overtime, or weekend work based on production schedules.
Physical Requirements
