SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (On-site | Appleton, WI)

Overview:


Sentinel Safety & Security Group, LLC is a dynamic strategic ownership group rapidly growing operations in the design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance of commercial fire sprinkler systems. We are looking to expand our team to include a Senior Accountant in our Appleton, WI corporate office.


The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting various accounting functions, including managing fixed assets and lease accounting, reconciliations, month-end close activities, cash flow forecasting, accounts payable, etc. for various entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of accounting, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Fixed Assets Management:

  • Prepare and maintain fixed asset addition and disposal packets, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
  • Perform fixed asset reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure asset records match the general ledger.
  • Import existing fixed assets into the Fixed Asset Software (FAS) system and ensure that all fixed asset data is properly transferred. Additionally, set up FAS reports to be used by the business units to book their monthly journal entries, view the depreciation expense reports, disposal reports, etc.
  • Track asset disposals and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Ensure that all enterprise fleet assets (e.g., vehicles, equipment) are accurately recorded and updated in FAS and the accounting system.
  • Prepare and maintain a consolidated fixed asset reconciliation.

Lease Management:

  • Maintain the visual lease system, ensuring that lease data is up to date.
  • Provide monthly lease entries to business units in accordance with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that all enterprise fleet assets (e.g., vehicles, equipment) are accurately recorded and updated in the Visual Lease software and the accounting system.
  • Prepare and maintain a consolidated lease reconciliation.

Account Reconciliations and Month-End Close Process:

  • Prepare and/or post monthly accruals for expenses or other necessary general ledger adjustments.
  • Support the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliations of all general ledger accounts, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.

Cash & Cash Flow Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts for various business units, along with a consolidated forecast.
  • Monitor cash flow trends and support the team in managing liquidity.
  • Work with department heads to ensure accurate cash projections.

Bookkeeping Activities:

  • Perform bookkeeping tasks for smaller subsidiary entities as assigned, including transaction recording and supporting data entry.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the company’s accounting system.

Accounts Payable Support:

  • Process, review, and approve AP invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors to address inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper coding and approval of expenses in line with the company’s accounting structure.
  • Reconcile AP transactions to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation of payment runs and ensure timely disbursement of payments.

Credit Card and Expense Report Management:

  • Oversee the management of company credit cards and ensure timely processing and approval of credit card transactions.
  • Review and approve employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.

Intercompany Account Reconciliations:

  • Ensure intercompany (I/C) accounts reconcile properly among all business units.
  • Work closely with the site teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.

Ad-Hoc Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for various ad-hoc accounting and finance projects, as assigned.
  • Assist with special reports, audits, or process improvements as necessary.


Senior Accountant Qualifications:


Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, including experience with financial reporting, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
  • Proven experience with month-end closing processes, preparing financial reports, fixed asset management (preferably including knowledge of Fixed Asset Software (FAS) and Visual Lease).
  • Solid experience in account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and credit card/expense management.
  • Prefer experience with managing enterprise fleet accounting, lease management, and managing cash flow forecasts.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and internal controls (e.g., GAAP).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while ensuring accuracy and timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems, Fixed Asset Software (FAS), Visual Lease) and Microsoft Excel (moderate to advanced skills preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement improvements.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate financial information.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
