What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telecommunications Systems Technician position at Sentinel?
- Install and maintain digital microwave, fiber optic, and analog microwave systems.
- Set up and troubleshoot PBX systems, MAS, and point-to-point radio equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and technical instructions.
- Assemble, test, and calibrate equipment using appropriate test instruments.
- Diagnose and repair system issues during routine site visits and callouts.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and maintain system specifications.
- Maintain logs and records as required by federal and state agencies.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of FCC rules and regulations (analog and digital).
- Understand electronics, electrical power, FM radio, LAN/WAN, and data cabling.
- Have strong computer diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Hold an associate degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or related field.
- Equivalent coursework in electronics, networking, and communications is acceptable.
- Possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving requirements.
- Hold a valid General Radiotelephone Operator License.
- Meet company and NERC security requirements, including background checks.
- Capable of lifting 10-25 lbs frequently and over 50 lbs occasionally.
- Comfortable with physical activities such as walking, bending, and working on irregular surfaces.

- The candidate must have a car, as this position requires travel between location and the transportation of equipment
- A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance will be required
