What are the responsibilities and job description for the National General Adjuster - Property position at Sentry Insurance?

Sentry insurance is seeking an experienced individual for our National General Adjuster - Property role. As part of the commercial property unit you'll play a critical part in fulfilling Sentry's promise to be there for our customers during their time of need.

No personal lines claim handling is involved.

This role will work remotely from home in one of he states listed in the posting as long it's near a major airport that serves as a hub or focus city for major airlines.

What You'll Do :

The National General Adjuster role is our highest-level Property adjuster and handles claims of the most significant size and complexity, reducing the need for the outsourcing of such claims.

In this role, you will :

Inspect, investigate and adjust, or technically supervise the inspection and adjustment of, large fire, business interruption, inland marine, theft, and other large property losses.

Assist in the handling of large or complicated losses to assure proper adjusting techniques are being followed

Assist the Sentry Catastrophe Teams with emphasis directed toward handling larger losses

Assist in the training and development of our claims associates to assure excellence in the quality claim service on property claims

What it Takes

Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position which varies in frequency and duration. Travel is nationwide and most often by air and rental car.

10 years of related work experience

Progressive Commercial property claim adjusting experience, including at least four or more years as a General Adjuster or the equivalent work experience preferred

Must have work history employed as a property adjuster for an insurance carrier. Candidates with no actual carrier employment experience will not be considered.

Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of on-site claim investigating, adjusting, and negotiating of policies and procedures and accounting principles related to business interruption and personal property loss evaluation

Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret insurance policies and other contracts

Proficiency using Xactimate estimating system preferred

Analytical problem-solving skills, oral and written communication and planning and organizational skills

Ability to make decisions appropriate and effectively negotiate with others

Bachelors or equivalent work experience

Successful completion of, or active study for, IIA. AIC 35 and AIC 36, and attainment of the Associate in Claims designation a plus
