- offers the opportunity to work from home on Mondaysand Fridays. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are in-office days at our Plano,TX Regional office.This position can be filled at the
- Underwriter
- Senior, UnderwriterSpecialist or Underwriter Specialist Sr level,
- depending on experience andqualifications.
- What You’ll Do
- Our Underwriters within Sentry’s Regional unit work closely with independentagents to underwrite, price and program individual policiesaccounts. Youwill :
- Underwrite multi-line middle market accounts
- Provide feedback to sales teams and underwriting management regarding trends and issues within their assigned territory, and provide solutions
- Work with other business functions to ensure service and quality objectives are met
- Demonstrate an understanding of the insurance marketplace and emerging industry issues
- Complete assigned project work requiring a high level of technical knowledge
- Perform other job-related duties including training, presenting, attending sales meetings, traveling to agents, participating in audits, and covering desks for other Underwriters
- Work closely with sales personnel to obtain information needed to properly underwrite, price, and program individual policiesaccounts
- Work on the more complex underwriting assignments through the use of manuals, established procedures, and information collected. Refer business outside of authority limit
- Be responsible for underwriting of the more complex, larger accounts and reinsurance placements.
- Evaluate established procedures for effectiveness and recommend change
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- What it Takes
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 2 years of related work experience underwriting middle market accounts for an Underwriter Senior, 5 years of related work experience an Underwriter Specialist, 8 years experience for an Underwriter Specialist Sr
- Previous Commercial Property Casualty insurance underwriting experience
- Completed insurance courses such as IIA andor CPCU preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial multi-line product line insurance concepts and terminology
- Comprehensive knowledge of reinsurance procedures
- Excellent analytical, human relations and communication skills
- Ability to meet limited travel requirements
