We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to help organize and unify a relatively new accounting team. This position reports to the CFO and is responsible for applying general principles of accounting, reviewing and analyzing financial information, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate is driven, self-directed, positive, and seeking a challenging role.
The Assistant Controller is responsible for the traditional controller functions. Given the nature of our business, knowledge of Federal Government contracting including FAR and CAS is preferred. Senture is looking for someone who is hands-on but possesses the experience and successful track record of working in a collaborative, team-oriented, fast-paced, high-growth environment. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Maintain overall responsibility for the preparation and distribution of timely and accurate budget information and financial and operational reports, which evaluate performance against company objectives and provide timely and accurate information for strategic business decisions.
Assure compliance with all accounting standards and FAR/CAS requirements.
Directs the accounting staff in providing and directing procedures and computer application systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations.
Analyzes operational issues impacting functional groups and the whole institution, and determines their financial impact.
Evaluates and recommends business partnering opportunities.
Establishes and maintains contacts with financial institutions, and the investment community
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
Accounting experience in the service industry is preferred.
7 years of progressive corporate accounting experience with a thorough understanding of GAAP.
Experience in financial planning, analysis and reporting, ability to coordinate and develop cost estimates for RFP/RFQs.
Working knowledge of and familiarity with FAR & CAS is preferred.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Flexibility to work remotely, travel onsite to London, KY may be required dependent on business need.
Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, drug screen, and background investigation.
Responsibilities:
Manage daily treasury, cash processing, and cash reporting activities.
Oversee preparation and entry of journal entries.
Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations.
Contribute to accurate and timely period end close process.
Assist in monthly financial statement preparation including variance analysis.
Identify process improvement opportunities and assume a leadership role in the implementation of accounting transformation projects.
Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as directed.
Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities within the department, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting, and general accounting.
Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting problems and discrepancies independently. o Participate in managing, developing, and training the accounting team.
