Job Description
We're looking for a talented Content Editor to lead our Content Department and oversee a variety of different types of writing across multiple platforms. You will be reporting to the Director of Content and will supervise our department of writers. A successful Content Editor combines the creativity of a writer with the practical focus of an Operations Manager. While writing and editing content for our company and clients, you will also be expected to manage a department of writers that consistently produce high-quality work in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
- Edit content for readability and SEO value
- Conduct training with writing team members to improve writing quality
- Post completed content on a variety of platforms (Shopify, WordPress, etc)
- Edit content from feedback received
- Create articles, social media content, long-form content, and rewrites as necessary on a deadline
- Collaborate with our Chief Content Officer to determine issues, content, and topics
- Coordinate meetings
- Plan and approve assignments for writers and editors
- Perform keyword research
- Control schedules and enforce deadlines
- Assist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance with policies, style, and tone
- Contribute to an ongoing conversation of improving and upgrading our systems and processes
- Adhere to SEO Design Chicago’s policies and best practices at all times
Skills and Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to motivate a team and foster teamwork
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite
- WordPress experience is a plus, but not required.
- Time management and organizational skills
- Openness to feedback
- Experience as an editor or other relevant role
- Exceptional ability in copywriting and editing
- Proficiency in English
- Working knowledge of online platforms like WordPress and SEO concepts
- Abilities in planning and coordinating people and operations
- Reliability and efficiency

- BA in English, Journalism, or related field
