Position: Lab Technician
Status: Fulltime, NON-Exempt

Company Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Lab Technician to join our team at an automotive interior parts manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will perform various testing and analysis procedures on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet company specifications and industry standards. This role requires adherence to safety protocols, routine equipment maintenance, and active collaboration with production teams to enhance quality assurance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Testing and Analysis:
- Perform chemical, physical, and mechanical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
- Conduct tests such as tensile strength, hardness, dimensional accuracy, and visual inspections based on industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM) and company procedures.
- Prepare and maintain test samples using prescribed methods and equipment to ensure accurate results.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Record test results accurately in logs, databases, and reports.
- Highlight and report any deviations or non-conformances in materials or products.
- Assist in preparing detailed reports for internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation practices are followed.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Report any malfunctioning or required repairs of equipment to the appropriate personnel.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workplace safety regulations while working in the lab.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM) and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment, ensuring proper storage and handling of materials and chemicals to prevent accidents and contamination.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with production teams to provide real-time feedback and recommendations based on test results.
- Participate in quality control (QC) meetings and assist in troubleshooting product-related issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance testing efficiency or quality assurance processes.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma required; some college education or technical certifications preferred.
- Previous laboratory experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is a plus, but not required.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of laboratory testing techniques and equipment.
- Ability to perform chemical, physical, and mechanical tests accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain precise records and reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for maintaining lab equipment.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to lift and handle materials up to 25 lbs.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed to support production schedules.
