Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Payroll and Compliance Accountant located in Houston, TX. The Payroll and Compliance Accountant will be responsible for payroll management, payroll services, using accounting software, handling payroll taxes, and managing employment contracts.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to do payroll, bookkeeping, contract management, client/contract management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance while supporting the organization's financial health and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Management:
- Process and manage payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Handle payroll taxes, deductions, and related reporting.
- Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Reconcile bank statements, general ledgers, and financial accounts.
- Contract Management:
- Review, organize, and manage financial aspects of client and vendor contracts.
- Monitor contract terms and ensure compliance with financial obligations.
- Client/Contract Management:
- Handle client invoicing and payment tracking.
- Manage client contracts, ensuring timely renewals and amendments.
- Accounts Receivable & Payable:
- Monitor and process incoming payments and outgoing invoices.
- Ensure timely payments to vendors and manage collections for outstanding receivables.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare documentation and support internal and external audits.
- Other Accounting Duties:
- Manage expense tracking and reporting.
- Provide support during tax preparation and filing.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification (preferred but not required).
- Proven experience in accounting, payroll, and bookkeeping.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
