We are seeking candidates for the position of Passenger Service Specialist (2541) in the Control Center RROC.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The Passenger Service Specialist, Regional Railroad Control Center, is responsible for monitoring Realtime service delays and interruptions and provide instant updates to customers via the AVPA system (Audio-Visual Public Address System) at over 145 passenger stations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates the Audio-Visual Public Address System (AVPA) to inform customers of any delays or changes
- Monitors train status using the Automatic Train Dispatching System (ATDS)
- Be familiar with Centralized Train Control (CTC) system to monitor train movement.
- Announces in clear, distinct English, and in compliance with departmental regulations, all information beneficial to our customers.
- Receives communications concerning any information which must be communicated to the public or other necessary parties.
- Makes a daily report of any SEPTA items or facilities requiring maintenance or repairs.
- Reports potential safety hazards immediately and take preventative action as necessary.
- Communicates with the Control Center Information Managers (CCIMs), Announcers, STO and Train Dispatchers.
- Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM NEW EXPERIENCE AND WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON THE JOB
- Utilize various computer programs AVPA, ATDS, CTC and Outlook and communicate to the public.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must become qualified on AVPA, and ATDS within 30 days of start date.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak clear and proper English over AVPA.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Must have good verbal communication skills.
- Must have good writing skills.
- Must have basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Must have familiarity with the geography and layout of SEPTA Regional Rail Lines.
- Must have familiarity with Regional Rail schedules, including stops and destinations.
- Must become familiar with the Authority’s Operating Rules and Regulations.
- Subject to be called outside of normal duty hours. Must be able to workday or night shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Must have one year or more of proven SEPTA Regional Rail experience.
