About The Role
Our Finance Department is searching for a Sr Accountant to enhance our team. This role reports to the Sr Accounting Manager and offers opportunity for growth. You will collaborate with the rest of the organization to appropriately process day-to-day accounting transactions, month-end closing activities and SOX compliance efforts. This hands-on position requires the ability to multitask and work effectively with others.
Responsibilities
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and GL reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet general ledger accounts, including, but not limited to, cash and investments, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, use tax accrual/reporting and accrued liabilities.
- Assist in booking and reconciling payroll accounts.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and provide supporting documentation to ensure timely and accurate filing of quarterly financial statements.
- Manage the fixed asset register, including recording acquisitions, disposals, depreciation and fixed asset tagging efforts.
- Manage expensify for employee reimbursement expenses and accounts payable.
- May assist in revenue/AR related matters for collaboration agreements.
- Assist with external audit by providing PBC list items and documentation and explanations related to transactions.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX 404 and other regulatory requirements.
- Quarter end and year end Process
- Prepare balance sheet and income statement flux analysis
- Assist in BvA analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
- 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong focus on general accounting procedures. Sr. auditor from public accounting firm is strongly encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Excellent understanding of US GAAP.
- Experience working in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is a strong plus.
- Experience working in a public company environment is a must.
- Proficiency in Excel and Netsuite; experience with FloQast and Prendio is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail, being proactive, organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Understanding the urgency is a must have attitude.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong customer service focus
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in South San Francisco, CA is $125,000 - $140,000. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location and relevant education or training. Septerna's compensation package also includes benefits, stock options, and annual target bonus for full-time positions.
