About The Role
Septerna has an exciting new opportunity to join our team as a Vice President, Commercial Strategy and New Product Planning reporting to our Chief Operating Officer. The VP, Commercial Strategy is a key member of the leadership team responsible for defining the commercial strategy and new product plans for Septerna’s entire R&D pipeline. This role requires a deep understanding of pharmaceutical product development and the ability to drive product strategy through thoughtful commercial analysis and market insights. The role will partner closely with all R&D functions on our product teams to provide unique insights to our development strategies and work closely with executive leadership as we communicate our pipeline vision. This individual must be a dynamic, self-starter who can work across the organization to translate scientific and clinical insights and align them with our patient-centric commercial goals.
Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the product development team, develop and execute the overarching global commercial product strategies for each pipeline program
- Lead commercial strategy initiatives, such as the creation and maintenance of near-term product development plans, indication prioritization analyses, current and future treatment paradigm mapping, target product profile evolution, endpoint analysis including PROs, and life-cycle management strategies
- Conduct strategic marketing activities, including leading primary and secondary market research, holding advisory boards, developing differentiation strategies, and drafting compelling messaging/positioning.
- Develop global product forecasts, including outlining baseline assumptions, emerging market scenarios and identifying key risks
- Establish relationships with global key opinion leaders and academic/community centers, and lead advisory boards to gather insights and inform strategies
- Identify and partner with patient advocacy organizations to ensure the patient perspective is embedded in our strategies
- Proactively develop an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape, knowledge of US payer landscape, patient journeys, and translate into actionable insights
- Support R&D teams by leading commercial opportunity assessments to support new program initiatives
- Work with project teams to develop publication plans to ensure timely presentation of program data and key product messages
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science related field required. PhD, MD, MBA or other advanced degree in scientific field preferred
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies with minimum of 12 years direct experience leading Marketing, Commercial Strategy and/or New Product Planning functions.
- Substantial experience working in early and late-stage product development, including conducting market research, knowledge of US payer environment and dynamics, and insights into global product launches.
- Experience in rare disease and Endocrinology indications strongly preferred
- A proactive and strategic thinker who can work as a solo team member and also inspire, motivate, and influence diverse teams that are not direct reports
- Proven ability to function effectively across a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders and constituents, with the ability and strength to focus a team to work towards its goals
- Highly collaborative with outstanding relationship and communication skills
Salary : $300,000 - $340,000
