Job Overview
The Senior Director of FP&A will be responsible for overseeing all financial planning and analysis functions, including the development and maintenance of the company’s financial models, accurate forecasting, and detailed financial reporting. In this role, you will also manage the annual budgeting process in support of Sequel’s long-term financial goals. You will partner closely with senior and functional leadership to provide insightful reporting, analysis and recommendations that drive business performance and support the company’s strategic growth objectives.
As the organization matures, you will establish best-in-class financial processes that ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and drive operational efficiency. You will be expected to leverage enterprise software, data from multiple value chain partners and analytical tools to streamline forecasting and reporting and provide real-time insights to key internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Prepare and analyze all necessary financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
- Consolidate financial and operational data from various sources and create comprehensive reports to effectively support management decision-making
- Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Conduct in-depth variance analysis, identifying trends and key drivers impacting financial performance, and provide actionable recommendations
- Prepare materials and present insights to executive management and the Board of Directors, providing clear and concise explanations of financial results
- Develop, document and maintain best-in-class work processes and procedures
- Support internal SOX audit and external audit requests
- Complete ad-hoc analytical assessments as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; MBA or CPA is a plus
- 10 years relevant financial planning and analysis experience, preferably in the life sciences industry
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional analytical skills, including managing complex data sets and creating and maintaining financial models
- Deep understanding of financial metrics and financial reporting requirements
- Ability to synthesize complex financial issues and to communicate them in a clear and concise manner
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including experience working with executives
- Expert-level experience using Netsuite or another ERP system preferred
- Experience working with Adaptive Planning software preferred
