Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Mill/Yard Associate to join our team. The Mill/Yard Associate will be responsible for receiving and stocking materials, assisting customers, operating fork lifts, and ensuring the efficient operation of the mill/yard.
Duties:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles
- Organize and maintain inventory in the mill/yard
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks
- Utilize warehouse management systems for tracking materials
- Perform general maintenance duties in the mill/yard
-Receives and unloads shipments of lumber and building materials.
-Confirms accurate receipt of shipments of lumber and building materials.
-Builds loads of lumber and building materials for customer pickup or delivery.
-Accurately labels special orders and pre-built loads of lumber and building materials for customer pickup or delivery.
-Assists customers with loading and unloading of building materials.
- Assists drivers in preparing material loads for delivery, including helping load and secure loads on trucks.
-General labor and staff support as needed.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Experience in materials handling and warehouse operations
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes
- Strong organizational skills to maintain inventory accuracy
This position requires the following skills:
- Ability to build and organize materials efficiently
- Experience with forklift operation for lifting heavy items
- Proficiency in loading and unloading procedures
- Ability to tolerate Michigan’s changing climate as this yard laborer position is an outdoor position.
