Job Overview
Sequoyah School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher to join our middle school team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in math to students in grades 7 through 8, covering topics from foundational math skills to Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. This position requires an individual who is passionate about teaching math, committed to student success, and able to create an engaging and supportive classroom environment in our progressive independent school.
- Deliver daily math instruction to students in grades 7-8, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1, following the curriculum and pacing guide provided by the School.
- Create and implement lesson plans, activities, and assessments that align with state standards and the School’s instructional goals.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic growth, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of all students.
- Monitor and assess student progress, provide timely feedback, and communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, and administrators regarding academic performance.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and adhere to school policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to ensure continuity of instruction and a cohesive educational experience.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and other activities as required.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance and grade reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching degree, certification, or licensure in the applicable subject area (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of math concepts from foundational skills through Algebra 1.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards working in a substitute teaching capacity.
- Previous teaching experience in middle grades math is highly desirable.
- Cleared DOJ and FBI Background Check (Livescan)
- Mandated Reporter Training (can be completed once hired)
