REPORTS TO : Student Services Coordinator
FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt / Hourly
CLASSIFICATION : Part-Time Regular (25 hours / week)

JOB SUMMARY : We are looking for a School Social Worker with experience working with children. Our ideal candidate has a passion for supporting families and children with learning differences by ensuring they receive the best care and tools for success.
About SER YOUTHBUILD Learning Academy : SYLA is a charter high school for youth ages 14-21. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide direct counseling services to children
- Collaborate with the clinical team to create a treatment plan or an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for each child, including identifying specific counseling related goals
- Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s performance and behavior
- Assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies
- Assess students with mental health concerns
- Develop staff in-service training programs
- Work with parents to facilitate their support in their children's school adjustment
- Assist teachers with behavior management
- Provide direct support to staff
- Will perform other duties as appropriate.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - This job operates in a normal school environment with a noise level, which is at times, moderately loud with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
