REPORTS TO : Director of Education and Vocations / Superintendent
FLSA STATUS : Exempt / Salaried

JOB SUMMARY : The Youth Services Compliance Specialist ensure faculty, staff and students operate within the guidelines and regulations governing the SER YouthBuild Learning Academy. This position requires that all relevant Michigan Department of Education and Department of Labor rules and guidelines from local, state, federal and other regulatory bodies are consistently followed and shared.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES :
- Stay up to date with local, state, and federal regulations from the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD), Department of Labor (DOL), and other relevant regulatory bodies that govern the school and workforce development / training programs.
- Create initiatives and procedures that help the organization meet all required mandates and guidelines.
- Exhibit professionalism and effective communication skills in all interactions.
- Regularly monitor all data, maintaining all records to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Establish and foster positive relationships with all regulatory organizations.
- Organize compliance information and document requests for audits.
- Collaborate with Principals, DPSCD, the Management Company, Workforce Team, and other departments to ensure continuous compliance and maintain an “audit ready” status.
- Reconcile and validate reports with related data files or sources, and report any errors or corrections to management.
- Maintain an organized and efficient filing system, which includes conducting monthly file audits and preparing for external audits.
- Oversee the internal audit plan for the site, reporting monthly documentation needs.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance to staff as needed.
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls across all inter-departments.
- Manage and resolve any compliance-related issues to prevent penalties or potential litigation.
- Supply the Leadership Team with a weekly list of compliance requirements and deadlines.
- Create and present a monthly Board Report.
- Manage all Federal, State, and District reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall team effort.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - This job operates in a normal school environment with a noise level, which is at times, moderately loud with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
