Position Description
Join Serco as a Combat Systems Test Technician. You will be on a team that is evaluating and managing the delivery of new amphibious ships and landing craft to the fleet. Serco is part of a team led by a Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager having decades of experience working in the DoD and Shipbuilding Industry.This position is contingent on your ability to obtain, maintain, and transfer your Secret clearance post employment.
Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operation, which is part of Serco's Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) business, provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy amphibious ships and craft. You will work closely with Government and industry professionals, shipbuilders, and other support personnel. We have only one objective: to ensure our clients’ mission objectives are achieved with the highest level of capability and assurance, and at the lowest possible cost. In this role you will:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of Combat system equipment installations
- Perform equipment installation, checkout, testing, troubleshooting, repair, reporting of results, Software, Hardware and Firmware upgrades and maintaining records as required
- Validate an extensive range of US Navy Combat Systems and associated equipment in the Combat Suite and be able to perform hands on testing in multiple areas of Combat Systems
- Collaborate with other systems engineers and ship operators and provide regular internal status reports to the System Test Team Leads
- Participate in Dock Trials, Builder’s Sea Trials, Acceptance Trial events, and participate in Final Contract Trials as needed.
- Support system test activities either by performing testing for systems part of the TSCEI network or as support to the systems under test
- Support, as needed, demonstration of ship systems to Board of Inspectors and Survey (INSURV)
- Interact with the Shipbuilder, SUPSHIP, Ship’s Force and outside vendors on TSCE issues and concerns
- Ability to perform normal climbing and lifting associated with working in a shipboard environment
- Validate an extensive range of US Navy Combat Systems and associated equipment in the combat suite
Qualifications
To be successfull in this role you will have:
- An active current DoD security clearance or be able to obtain an interim clearance after hire.
- United States (U.S.) citizenship.
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience working with shipboard Combat Systems. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years of applicable work experience.
- Must have at least 3 years of hands-on testing experience with Combat Systems to include: NSSMS-(MK 29 MOD 5 GMLS, MK- 73,77,78), SPQ-9B, SPY-6, SPN-50, SPN-35, UPX-29, SLQ-32, SLA-10, SLQ-25, SLA-10, AN/URN-32, JPALS, GEDMS, TCIPS, SSDS, GPS- GPNTS AN/SSN-9(V)4 , AN/WSN-7, IC/SM Alarm, NAVIGATION SYSTEM, AN/SCC-13(V)2 SATCC, AN/SRC-55B(V) (HYDRA), INTERCOMMUNICATION ANNOUNCING SYSTEM, AN/SRC-55B(V), ELECTRONIC DRY AIR SYS, MK-15 CWIS, MK-49 RAM.
- Ability to operate personal computers and have good knowledge and operational abilities with Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility. Some work may occur within an industrial field office, outdoors and/or aboard ship while the ship is undergoing construction, alteration, activation, overhaul, repair, and/or underway trials. Walking and climbing throughout the ship, to accomplish ship checks, may be required. Exposure to high noise levels, uncomfortable. temperatures, heights, or other industrial safety conditions will require use of personal protective clothing and equipment.
- Ability to travel 10% to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility or onboard ship while underway.
