What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Program Facilitator position at SERCO OF TEXAS - ALAMO?
Works with SERCO customers in the WIOA Youth Program to provide direction in developing the best and quickest route to self-sufficiency. Conducts intake and case management activities and provides supportive services to customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adheres to the mission of SERCO.
2. Performs responsible training activities in a classroom setting to improve program participant’s ability to effectively seek employment.
3. Provides instruction in the pre-employment process. Instruction includes, but not limited to, resume writing, interviewing skills, job search skills, job application, mock interviewing, and other workshops that will assist youth to gain employment.
4. Identifies areas that may need intervention and may prepare reports for Management on a weekly basis.
5. Manages a comprehensive workload.
6. Responsible for the custody, care, and safekeeping of agency property and exercises control over expendable supplies.
7. Keeps current with the developments in his/her subject area(s) and continually reviews and upgrades performance as a facilitator.
8. Identifies new educational approaches for discussion and implementation.
9. Assists with identifying and implementing different instructional methods to meet the student's varying needs. Communicates learning activities and objectives to students. Maintain individual learning for students and track their progress.
10. Instructs students and guides participants in carrying out their studies and appropriate activities to meet their job readiness needs.
11. Monitors and evaluates the progress of students and ensures youth in the classroom are learning job readiness courses or any other training being offered.
12. Prepares and maintains current and accurate accounting of each student’s attendance and participation.
13. Completes all necessary reports on participants and tracks services in the workforce tracking source, WorkInTexas.
14. Conducts classes in resume writing, interviewing techniques and related matters.
15. Provides individual consultation with students on their needs and abilities.
16. Provides regular classroom instruction for participant on an as needed basis and provides instruction in remedial classes.
17. Maintain Test Proctor certification
18. Performs other related duties as assigned.
19. Assist with any other related duties related to meeting the team PPS goals.
20. Brings other training providers as needed if necessary to insure we are assisting in removing barriers to participants or potential youth participants.
21. May assist with events as needed or as assigned.
22. Other duties as assigned
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge and understanding of instructional and classroom techniques.
2. Knowledge of current classroom methods of instruction.
3. Knowledge of basic adult education principles, practices and techniques for adult learning. Knowledge of group process and interpersonal relations.
4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
5. Ability to make presentation effectively.
6. Ability to plan and organize effectively.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience with adult learners in a non-traditional environment.
2. 2-4 years’ workforce experience can be substituted for education, or a combination of Associate degree and experience total can be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.
A minimum of 2 years experience facilitating workshops to students
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and provide automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Texas.
2. Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within service area.

1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, must be able to set up display area.
2. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced, demanding physically and mentally, will be in constant communications.
