SUMMARY:  Works with SERCO customers in the SEAL programs to provide direction in developing the best work experience for individuals with disabilities.  Conducts intake and case management activities and provides supportive services to customers. Must demonstrate a strong concern for others and high integrity. Requires being sensitive to others’ needs and being understanding, helpful, honest, and ethical.

Note: This is a temporary position, for at least 120 days, and will be considered for permanent employment once complete. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Adheres to the mission of SERCO.
  • Interviews customers or their authorized representatives to gather information to assess service needs.
  • Responsible for the intake process of center customers to determine eligibility for services.
  • Assess work readiness skills of participants.
  • Conducts activities to enhance motivation and improve communication skills.
  • Assists with workshops and teaching of job readiness skills and life skills related to attainment of pre-employment competencies.
  • Administers tests to measure participant competency of program components.
  • Assists all participants in job search, barrier resolution, and work-life balance management.
  • Maintains time and attendance records for all participants.
  • Ensures that all participants adhere to all center guidelines and regulations.
  • Assists Program management as needed.
  • Receive referrals from Vocational Rehabilitation youth clients ages 14 to 24.
  • Refer potential youth to Vocational Rehabilitation, as needed.
  • Refer customers to the most appropriate work utilizing information provided by Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Track and monitor each youth’s progress during participation.
  • Refer client to Vocational Rehabilitation for support services.
  • Monitor and update weekly reports on each client effectively throughout the duration of their participation.
  • Contact Vocational Rehabilitation if problems occur with assigned employment.
  • Update and ensure documentation is current, accurate, and thorough. 
  • Maintain working relationship with Concho Valley Workforce Development Board, Workforce Solutions, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Conduct Worksite Visits
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Work experience may be substituted for educational experience up to 2 years.
  • Ability to use personal computer.
  • Ability to interact with adolescent clients daily via face-to-face and/or phone. 
  • Commitment to customer-focused service delivery system, and professional experience in case management. Exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication. 
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and dependable private vehicle for occasional travels from location to location. 
  • Ability to work in conjunction with others to overcome obstacles for goal attainment of the client.
  • Outstanding organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and public speaking abilities.
  • Must be able to handle communications and correspondence in English (Spanish a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, resume writing, and using job search engines.
  • Experience conducting group workshops/training for job readiness skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to use creativity and enthusiasm to motivate young adults and tailor learning activities to meet group and individual needs.
  • Ability to locate resources to overcome possible barriers to the successful completion of the program.
  • Excellent communication skills.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Highly preferred: Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and provide automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Texas.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation in order to make required home visits and travel within the service area.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate Travel

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. The employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and must be able to set up a display area.

  1. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast-paced, demanding physically and mentally, will be in constant communication.
