Job Overview
We are seeking a general laborer to work in the yard at our Farm Market and Greenhouse Facility. Responsibilities would entail loading and unloading materials with use of tractor or case loader and forklift, as well as maintaining grounds, filling propane, watering plants, splitting and stacking wood, assisting customers bring merchandise to vehicles, and a variety of other physical or machine-driven tasks. The ideal candidate should be physically fit and able to perform a variety of tasks in all weather conditions, be able and have experience running a loading tractor and case loader and be able to be versed in the above responsibilities. Must also have customer service and communication skills.
Must feel comfortable and be able to be proficient in explaining difference to customers between yard materials example include difference in CR1, CR2 and other size stone, different mulches and topsoil. Be able to load pick-up truck and trailers with different equipment in a safe manor without damage to equipment or customer property.
Canidate will be responsible for various tasks throughout the day ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment or be able to work independently in a slow setting with little guidance ensuring priority tasks are completed.
Duties
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Operate variety of heavy machienery in a safe and effective manor and always follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintaine a safe working environemmt
- Assist in maintaining an organized and clean workspace on the property
- Provide excellent customer service
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and machinery to ensure proper functioning, fuel and oil supply, notify management if there is an issue
- Collaborate with team members to meet goals and provide a comfortable customer experience for a small community business
Skills
- Proficient mechanical knowledge to understand machinery operations.
- Experience operating forklifts is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience operating variety of heavy machinery such as tractor, case loader, etc.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work effectively with little supervision independently
- Communicate with other staff and management
- Attention to detail for tasks especially while loading customers equipment
- Capability to work as part of a team while also being self-motivated when required.
