Direct Support Professional

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum, ensuring they lead fulfilling and independent lives. Your responsibilities will encompass patient care, medication administration, and the implementation of personalized care plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, promoting independence and dignity.
• Implement and monitor care plans designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
• Provide patient observation to ensure safety and well-being, reporting any changes in condition or behavior.
• Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records of medication administration.
• Engage clients in social activities to foster communication skills and social interaction.
• Support individuals in developing life skills through structured programs and activities.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Experience

• Previous experience in patient care or direct support roles is preferred.
• Familiarity with working with individuals on the autism spectrum or those requiring memory care is a plus.
• Knowledge of medication administration protocols is beneficial.
• Background in social work or related fields will be considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• A genuine passion for helping others and making a positive impact in their lives is essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.50 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
