Overview
In this role, you will leverage your lived experience and training to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges. Your unique perspective will help foster hope and resilience in those you assist, while promoting recovery-oriented practices within our community.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, utilizing your personal experiences to inspire hope and motivation.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through mentoring and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on crisis intervention, behavioral health education, and peer support.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to create individualized care plans that address clients' specific needs.
- Conduct outreach activities to engage individuals who may benefit from peer support services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in crisis management, addiction counseling, and social work systems.

What Sets You Apart:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in the field of mental health or addiction counseling.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and resources available for individuals in recovery.
- Excellent crisis management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Experience with motivational interviewing techniques and mentoring practices.
- Knowledge of mental health counseling principles and addiction recovery processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate approach to client interactions.
