Job Description Be responsible for reading and implementing all of Serenity’s treatment curricula and be prepared to deliver educational lectures, group counseling and individual counseling to keep clients engaged in the program at Serenity using motivation interviewing techniques.
- Provide case management for the client and coordinate services with the agency’s social services department for on going assistance.
- Conduct group process sessions as requested by Program Director. Provide one-on-one counseling with individual clients at a minimum of one time weekly and educational lectures at a level consistent with HHSC directives and document in HHSC electronic clinical management system.
- When appropriate arrange telephone time for clients’ interaction with family and operating under 42CFR, part 2, confidentiality requirements, provide family members with information concerning established visitation and family Group on weekends, schedule family sessions with an appropriate staff member if requested by the family.
- Maintain case-load records, providing all required documentation in client charts and document all client activities and services in the HHSC electronic clinical management system as required in Serenity’s contract with HHSC. Ensure that all clinical documents are placed in the charts at the time of patient transfer to a lesser intense level of treatment.
- Become familiar with and comply with dictates of Federal Confidentiality Law (42 CFR - Part 2 Federal Register)
CULTURAL/ETHNIC COMPETENCY :
Serenity Foundation follows a policy promoting cultural awareness and sensitivity in all agency operations, including competency in the ethnic and cultural characteristics of the populations served. All counseling staff must obtain at a minimum three hours of classes in Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity every two years. More importantly, all staff must exhibit a corporate culture which celebrates cultural/ethnic differences and needs. Employees training at the agency, by the Human Resources staff cover the requirement for culturally sensitive conduct. Performance standards for all positions rate staff on their ability to show respect for others in the work place. Client guidelines also reflect the agency’s cultural awareness policy and non-compliance is grounds for dismissal.
