Duties
- Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Help with mobility and transfers to ensure client safety.
- Monitor and record vital signs as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to implement care plans effectively.
- Support clients in engaging in activities that promote physical and mental well-being.
Skills
The following skills are essential or beneficial for the role of Personal Care Assistant:
- Knowledge of hospital medicine practices, particularly in inpatient settings.
- Familiarity with operating rooms (OR) procedures and protocols.
- Understanding of medical-surgical care principles.
- Experience in pediatric intensive care units (PICU) is a plus.
- Background in emergency medicine practices.
- Ability to work effectively with geriatric populations.
- Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers is advantageous.
- Familiarity with teaching hospitals and their operational dynamics.
