What are the responsibilities and job description for the On Call RN position at Serenity Hospice (2)?
Serenity Hospice is committed to providing timely, compassionate, and professional hospice care and services in the comfort of our patients own home.
We currently service 9 counties
The On-call RN is responsible for providing direct patient care. The on-call hours will begin at 4:30pm Monday and be completed at 8:30am Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Follow the plan of care, providing treatments within the scope of licensure and working collaboratively with the members of the health care team to help meet patient care outcomes
· Furnish services in accordance with Serenity Hospice policies and procedures
· Provide direct patient care as defined by the Ohio State Nurse Practice Act
· Prepare clinical and progress notes and submit within 24 hours
· Send out report via email before 8:00am each morning even if no calls are received the prior evening/night
· Provide accurate and timely documentation consistent with the plan of care
· Assess and provide patient and family/caregiver education and information pertinent to diagnosis and plan of care
· Use equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently
· Performs specific nursing procedures as needed (e.g., treatments, management of
symptoms) following doctor’s orders.
· Participate in personal and professional growth and development
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing
· Participates in on-call duties as defined by the on-call policy
· Triage calls from the answering service
· Completes all visits as assigned by the Director of Nursing
· Collaborate with back up on-call RN as needed
· Participate in in-service programs and staff meetings
· Assist the patient in obtaining needed equipment and other necessary items and services
· Assist the patient in learning appropriate self-care techniques
OSHA EXPOSURE
· Category I – Positions include tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and tissues
