Job Description
We are actively seeking a Full Time Chaplain for our Hospice program. We service patients throughout Delaware county area.
Summary:
The Chaplain will be responsible for the assessment and provision of spiritual/pastoral counseling to patients, families and caregivers. Although Hospice experience would be preferred, it is not necessary.
Job duties will include but not be limited to:
- Spiritual/pastoral assessment as soon as possible after admission.
- Spiritual/pastoral support provided in accordance with ongoing wishes and needs of patient/ family.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize a variety of religious resources (i.e. prayer, meditation, scripture, etc.)
- Offer patients/families of different philosophies and religious perspective opportunities to discuss and share their thoughts, feelings, beliefs and values.
- Coordinate pastoral care done by other pastoral caregivers (i.e. the patient’s pastor/rabbi or a per diem chaplain) and works with other professionals in resolving spiritual/pastoral/ethical issues.
- Communicates plans and progress to the interdisciplinary team.
- Work in a team approach with the interdisciplinary care team.
Requirements:
Preferred Seminary graduate or with equivalent degree and with at least 1 uni of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
Experience:
A minimum of two years experience in a health care and/or related pastoral experience of at least two years
Experience Desired
Demonstrated experience in working with patients and families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.
