Laundry Assistant
Job Description
This candidate retrieves, delivers, sorts, weights, washes, dries, irons, folds, stacks and returns resident and facility laundry. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and laundry work area.
Duties
1. *Provides adequate amounts of clean linen for good resident care.
2. *Maintains resident’s personal clothes in good repair and clean, if so desired. Assures clothes are properly identified.
3. *Responsible for maintaining facility linen in good repair and stain free.
4. *Maintains laundry standard at all times.
5. *Responsible for washing, folding and distributing clean linen.
6. *Maintains sanitary conditions by keeping all clean and soiled linen covered while transporting through hallways.
7. *Requisitions supplies and equipment through department head.
8. *Keeps laundry department in clean, safe and sanitary manner at all time.
9. *Performs daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance checks on laundry equipment. Cleans and replaces dryer lint filters every two hours.
10. *Reports any malfunctioning of equipment immediately.
11. *Washes garments and linens in a washing machine and adjusts valves to proper temperate using soap or other solutions at appropriate times. Weighs laundry for compliance with machine standards.
12. *Transfers washed clothes from washer to dryer and to baskets for distribution.
13. *Hangs finished garments on hangers, or folds and stacks garments.
14. *Distributes clothes to resident’s rooms.
15. *Wears protective equipment when handling dirty linens. Washes hands after contact with any soiled linen.
16. *Washes contaminated linens separately if necessary.
17. *Handles, stores, processes, and transports all linens in a manner that will prevent the spread of infection.
18. *Reports any suspected or known resident abuse to Director of Nursing or Administrator immediately.
19. *Participates in performance improvement activities. Attends all mandatory in-services.
20. *Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe work environment. Incorporates safety/risk management standards into daily work practices.
21. *Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor.
Experience and Education
Long-term care experience preffered (1yr), but will train
