We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist with plant layout design, automation component development, and prototype tooling. In this role, you will utilize 2D CAD (DraftSight or AutoCAD) for factory layout planning and work with 3D CAD (SolidWorks) to design fixtures, automation components, and prototype tools. This position offers a unique blend of design and hands-on fabrication experience, making it an excellent opportunity to apply engineering concepts in a real-world manufacturing setting. If you have experience with bandsaws, milling machines, lathes, or power tools, that’s a plus!
\n- Utilize 2D CAD (DraftSight or AutoCAD) to assist with plant layouts.
- Design automation components, fixtures, and prototype tools using 3D CAD (SolidWorks).
- Collaborate with engineers, maintenance teams, and production personnel to optimize equipment placement.
- Gain hands-on experience with fabrication tools such as bandsaws, milling machines, and lathes (preferred but not required).
- Support engineering change requests and production improvement initiatives.
- Assist in updating facility models and documentation as part of Serigraph’s continuous improvement efforts.
- Experience with SolidWorks (3D CAD) for design work.
- Familiarity with DraftSight or AutoCAD (2D CAD) for plant layouts (preferred).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with hands-on tools such as bandsaws, milling machines, or lathes is a plus.
- Ability to analyze and improve manufacturing processes and production layouts.
