What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Automotive Technician position at Serra Auto Campus?
At the Serra Auto Campus, we are looking to add highly-motivated and self-driven individuals into our Automotive Technician Apprentice program! We offer five brands at our Campus for technicians to work in: Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, and Sprinter. The right candidate will have a strong service technician background (via on-the-job experience and/or secondary education) and a career growth mindset. Any potential candidate will require at minimum a State of Michigan Trainee Permit -- State of Michigan Mechanic's License and/or ASE Certifications are preferred. The day-to-day duties include performing general multi-point inspections, diagnosing specific vehicle concerns, estimating recommendations based on inspection and/or diagnosis, and performing approved repairs.

Monday Thru Friday work schedule; rotating Saturday shifts as required, based on business demand
Responsibilities:
-
Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment

Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including: engine, transmission, drivetrain, electrical systems, steering & suspension, brakes, heating & air conditioning systems, tires, alignments, and general maintenance

Communicate directly with Training/Mentor Technician, Service Advisor, and/or Service Manager to inform customers of any additional service is needed; Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs

Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership & OEM manufacturer standards

Execute repairs under warranty to OEM manufacturer specifications

Maintain State of Michigan Mechanic’s License and obtain certification level required for performing various levels of repair

Complete OEM manufacturer training and Base certification level
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Dexterity, requiring a steady hand, excellent hand-eye coordination

Mechanical and troubleshooting skills and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment

Basic computer competencies
