FINANCE DIRECTOR
Job Summary:
The Finance Director is accountable for the overall performance and success of SERRC's Finance Department, which includes budget management, accounting, payroll functions, and the preparation of the organization’s annual budget(s). Additionally, the Finance Director provides oversight for SERRC’s Business Service clients.
As the organization’s Secretary/Treasurer, the Finance Director also holds responsibility for overseeing financial governance and compliance. In this role, the Finance Director offers critical financial insights and advice to support the Executive Director in making informed strategic decisions.
As a key member of the SERRC leadership team, the Finance Director collaborates closely with the Executive Director, Assistant Director, and HR Director to drive organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting or equivalent field experience
- Professional accounting experience at a managerial level, 5 years minimum
- Governmental/fund accounting experience, 3 years minimum
- School District accounting/business management experience, preferred
- Valid AK driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience
- Notary for the State of Alaska, preferred
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience with non-profit accounting, preferred
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to business, finance and payroll
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and coordinate the activity of several employees
- Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL and WORD and experience with financial reporting systems
- Ability to work with people from diverse educational, cultural, social and economic backgrounds
Typical Duties:
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate business office staff
- Advise the Executive Director regarding financial matters of the organization
- Assist with the development and monitoring of SERRC’s annual budget including presentation to the Board of Directors
- Coordinate and prepare for SERRC’s annual financial audit
- Monitor cash flow and make recommendations regarding investments
- Periodically examine internal controls and financial policies and make recommendations as needed
- Manage Federal, State and local government grants and contracts
- Manage and coordinate property, auto, workers comp and liability coverage; present recommendations to the Executive Director
- Provide monthly financial report to the Executive Director
- Prepare, submit and negotiate the organization’s annual Indirect Cost Rate proposal
- Code SERRC expenditures
- Monitor and track SERRC’s federal grant sub-recipient activity
- Ensure all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and forms comply with regulatory and reporting requirements and are submitted in a timely fashion
- Maintain a policy manual for the Finance Department
- Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:
260-day contract.
Salary:
$95,000-$120,000 DOE
