Service Credit Union is seeking a full-time Residential Mortgage Underwriter where you will be responsible for completing the timely and accurate underwriting of all real estate loans, including but not limited to, first mortgage loans and home equity loans and lines of credit in strict adherence to secondary market guidelines, Service CU policies and procedures, NCUA policies CFPB and Federal and State Regulations, support all other areas of loan production and servicing as needed.
Pay: Starting at $25.60 per hour. Flexible based on experience.

- Professionally and effectively perform the following responsibilities, with an emphasis on member service and teamwork:
- Responsible for comprehensive review of credit, income, and asset documentation to assure adherence with CFPB Ability to Repay and/or FNMA Delegated Underwriting findings.
- Underwrite all conventional first and second lien real estate loans within seventy- two hours or less of submission in accordance with secondary market guidelines, Service CU policies and procedures, NCUA policies and Federal and State Regulations.
- Administer FNMA/FHLM automated underwriting and collateral review systems.
- Responsible for a comprehensive review of all appraisals in accordance with secondary market guidelines and FNMA Collateral Underwriter, assuring adherence with all appraisal independence safeguards.
- Assure mortgage insurance is properly requested and obtained to meet secondary market guidelines and mortgage insurance overlays.
- Accurate and timely review of all outstanding loan conditions to assure they are properly satisfied prior to loan closing.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Minimum three years’ experience in the real estate lending industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ellie Mae Principals of Conventional Underwriting Certificate
- Previous experience in underwriting and/or processing FNMA/FHLMC loans preferred.
- Experienced with mortgage related Federal Regulations.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as with others.
- Strong ability to accurately perform detailed functions within allocated time periods.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
- Proficient with Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power point, and various web-based applications required.
