Statement of Job Purpose :
The 1199NE Training and Upgrading Fund (“Fund”), a labor / management training partnership for healthcare workers, is seeking to hire an Executive Director to oversee the work of the organization. The Training Fund was established in 1985 by an agreement between District 1199NE, New England Healthcare Employees Union (‘Union”), and 11 nursing homes. Currently, 54 Connecticut nursing homes contribute approximately $2 million annually to the Fund through Collective Bargaining Agreements with the Union; the State of Connecticut contributes $750,000 annually through a Collective Bargaining Agreement which covers over 10,000 Personal Care Attendants; and two Rhode Island Hospitals contribute $350,000 annually through their Collective Bargaining Agreements. In addition, the Fund has received a grant from the State of Rhode Island to administer training programs for RI Personal Care Attendants.
The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the work of the organization by meeting quarterly with the Fund Board of Trustees, helping to develop and implement programs, supervising staff, and developing and tracking the annual budget.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Meet with the Fund’s Board of Trustees at its quarterly meetings, and communicate in between meetings as needed
- Draft meeting agendas
- Prepare annual budget for discussion and approval
- Prepare other agenda items for discussion regarding new programming, policy changes, etc.
- Other items as needed
- Supervise staff who develop and implement programs in the following areas
- Connecticut nursing homes
- Connecticut Personal Care Attendants
- Rhode Island hospitals
- Rhode Island Personal Care Attendants
- Oversee Fund budgets in each area noted above
- Participate in regional and national meetings to learn about similar programs in other states and make recommendations for future program expansion based on best practices
- Oversee future program growth. It is expected that Fund programs will grow in the future, and this position will be involved in helping to envision, plan, and implement future programs as the need arises.
