The Training Fund was established in 1985 by an agreement between District1199NE, New England Healthcare Employees Union (‘Union”), and 11 nursing homes.Currently, 54 Connecticut nursing homes contribute approximately $2 million annually to theFund through Collective Bargaining Agreements with the Union; the State of Connecticutcontributes $750,000 annually through a Collective Bargaining Agreement which covers over10,000 Personal Care Attendants; and two Rhode Island Hospitals contribute $350,000 annuallythrough their Collective Bargaining Agreements. In addition, the Fund has received a grant fromthe State of Rhode Island to administer training programs for RI Personal Care Attendants.The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the work of the organization by meetingquarterly with the Fund Board of Trustees, helping to develop and implement programs,supervising staff, and developing and tracking the annual budget.Duties and Responsibilities : a. Meet with the Fund’s Board of Trustees at its quarterly meetings, and communicate inbetween meetings as neededi. Draft meeting agendasii. Prepare annual budget for discussion and approvaliii. Prepare other agenda items for discussion regarding new programming, policychanges, etc.iv. Other items as neededb. Supervise staff who develop and implement programs in the following areasi. Connecticut nursing homesii. Connecticut Personal Care Attendantsiii. Rhode Island hospitalsiv. Rhode Island Personal Care Attendantsc. Oversee Fund budgets in each area noted aboved. Participate in regional and national meetings to learn about similar programs in otherstates and make recommendations for future program expansion based on bestpracticese. Oversee future program growth. It is expected that Fund programs will grow in thefuture, and this position will be involved in helping to envision, plan, and implementfuture programs as the need arises.Qualifications : Requireda. At least two years of experience working with a Labor-Management Training Partnershipb. Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field, education, or other social service fields (orat least three years' experience working in healthcare, non-profit or social serviceorganizations)c. Knowledge of the healthcare industry, particularly Skilled Nursing, homecare, and acutecared. Deep commitment to racial, economic, and worker justicee. Experience with labor unions and / or other movements for social justicef. Experience working with adults in adult education or social service settingsg. Excellent technology skills, including Microsoft Office, virtual meeting software (Zoom,Teams, etc.), and Salesforce or another comparable databaseh. Excellent written and verbal communication skillsi. Experience in supervising and evaluation employeesj. Demonstrated ability to work independently with ability to be organized and pay attentionto detailk.
