Consumer Loan Assistant
Position Summary
We are now hiring for a consumer loan assistant at Service First Federal Credit Union in Sioux Falls, SD at our 3 locations. In this position, you will answer telephone calls for Loan Department. Provide information or answers to basic lending questions from members. Responsible for directing member inquiries to appropriate lending staff. Perform a variety of support duties related to the lending function including checking booked loans, creating notes in the Credit Union systems, scanning and vaulting, account maintenance, and working reports.
Essential duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Entering loan notes on members’ accounts and setting up autopay.
- Check booked loans
- Provide a variety of support duties related to the lending function over the phone, e-mail, or chat.
- Answer basic member questions for the loan department professionally and courteously. Answer questions, provide information, and/or route calls to the appropriate PFO.
- Mail or email information to members and prospective members.
- Maintain accurate and complete files and records. Vaulting and/or scanning in work in a timely/accurate manner to avoid undue deletions and member issues. Ensure accuracy and completeness of work.
- Complete GAP claims, MBP cancellations, loan payoffs, and total loss claims.
- Tracks, accepts and releases Titles for collateral. Process total loss payoffs within DDI.
- Monitors insurance policies and manages the forced place insurance program (CPI)
- Credit Life and Credit Disability Claims. Process, track, and post payments
- Transaction reversal and similar requests
- Skip Pay Processor
- Transaction Reversal & Similar Requests
- Assist Member Engagement Team with lending responsibilities and reports
- Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Qualifications
- Resourceful and proactive; ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information, diplomatic, tactful, and professional in actions, appearance, and demeanor. Has the responsibility to have a cooperative and positive attitude toward members and Credit Union staff. Demonstrated record as a self-starter, strong organizational skills, dependable, strong attention to detail, and accuracy is critical.
- Ability to manage multi-functional tasks and prioritize responsibilities while meeting department needs. The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form with management and internal and external customers is required. Ability to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with members, and co-workers courteously and professionally.

- Able to operate equipment such as scanners, laser printers, photocopiers, and fax machines.
- Must be proficient in operating a computer, Multiple Phone Line Systems, word processing, spreadsheet, email software, and use of the Internet. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.
- At least a high school diploma or GED
Schedule: Hours range Monday through Friday from 7:30 am-6:15 pm
Including 2-3 Saturdays per month from 8:45 am-12:15 pm.
