Essential Functions

  • Managing HVAC Service business to achieve annual revenue, gross margin and operating margin budgets.
  • Participate in developing annual revenue, gross margin and operating margin budgets for review and approval.
  • Managing all direct reports and recruiting for new hires.
  • Participating on Maxair management team.
  • Marketing and sales as necessary to maintain backlog and revenue goals.
  • Oversee RFPs, make Go / No-Go decisions and delegate to appropriate Account Manager.
  • Maintain key customer relationships.
  • Resolving customer concerns and complaints in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Planning, organizing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of the HVAC Service Group.
  • Scheduling labor to meet our customers’ needs while factoring in the complexity of the job against the capabilities of the available technicians.
  • Maintaining liaison with the President and the Accounting Manager on problems with accounts receivables.
  • Developing and maintaining familiarity with all Maxair offerings.
  • Maintaining and improving leadership skills via self-study, seminars, etc.
  • Training designated employees in proper procedures, practices, and promotion of Maxair quality standards and corporate mission.
  • Working with other department managers and employees in support of all facets of the group.
  • Working with other department managers in support of the corporate goals, mission, and vision.
  • Managing the necessary administrative records and controls to protect the interests of the corporation and the customer, to include prompt and accurate invoicing.
  • Working with suppliers and vendors on pricing, performance, reliability, and availability.
  • Providing bi-annual performance appraisals for all HVAC Service Group employees.
  • Performing management level duties as directed by the Vice President or President.
  • Implementing quality control procedures for the HVAC Service Group to ensure optimal customer service, efficient use of equipment and time, and meeting departmental strategic and budgetary goals.
  • Fosters a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximize employee morale and productivity.
  • Develops individuals for future advancement.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for leadership, performance management and hiring of the employees within its department.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8 : 00am to 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction or business or equivalent combination of technical training and experience which includes forecasting, scheduling and real-time project management.
  • Seven or more years of combined practical and academic experience in the full range of plumbing sub-fields.
  • A minimum of one year experience supervising, coaching and developing staff.
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers, delivery schedules, and subcontractors.
  • Experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
  • Ability to successfully direct and coordinate the requirements of the customers, employees, outside suppliers, delivery schedules and subcontractors.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills to motivate employees to higher achievements and to keep the department morale high.
  • Skill and ability in promoting and selling projects on the phone and face to face.
  • Ability to comprehend and implement applicable plumbing related federal, state and local governmental laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to represent Maxair at company related social activities.
  • Preferred Education & Experience

  • Working knowledge of HVAC service industry.
  • Familiarity with the following computer programs : Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of purchasing, fabrication, shop operations and company fleet / equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations.
  • Understanding of purchasing, fabrication, and shop processes / operations.
  • Strong vendor / supplier knowledge and relationships.
  • Work Authorization / Security Clearance

    Ability to be insurable by Maxair’s insurance carrier.

    Ability to pass a drug test and a background screening.
