Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for guiding and aligning the customer experience in the parts department at an individual store. In addition, the Parts manager oversees activities throughout the dealership as part of the store management team.
Required Education and/or Experience
Associate degree or 2-year Technical Degree in a related field
3-5 years of Management experience
3-5 years of parts related experience
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Develops annual/monthly/daily plan for parts department. Establishes clear, concise goals and corrective actions plans.
- Assists with all parts department functions as needed, including assisting customers or technicians with acquiring parts, answering department phone calls, shipping, and receiving.
- Prepares staff work schedules to ensure the department is always staffed, including the after-hours on-call schedule.
- Manages parts inventory.
- Monitors parts levels based on demand, move parts that are not in demand.
- Understands inventory depth and breadth.
- Reviews parts orders and orders parts.
- Returns parts to manufacturers in a timely manner and returns parts no longer deemed necessary.
- Investigates and resolves discrepancies in parts inventory.
- Oversees cycle counts.
- Markets products in showrooms (general and seasonal) and rotates inventory based on product sales.
- Looks up pricing and availability of parts requested by other departments.
- Tracks lost sales.
- Provides input and assists with creating the department budget.
- Reviews financial reports and takes corrective action if goals are not being met.
- Supervises parts department employees, including interviewing candidates, training, evaluating performance, and communicating department and company information.
- Participates in Saturday parts counter and after-hours rotation schedule.
- Participates and helps organize Customer partnership visits.
- Participates in company events, community events, and trade shows.
- Works closely with all departments to acquire parts in a timely manner.
- Participate in daily service walk arounds.
- Promotes customer programs provided by Service Motor Company.
- Responsible for financial performance for the entire parts department.
- Responsible for monthly review of financials with Executive Team including core metrics including inventory turns, revenue, margins, obsolete inventory, lost sales and price exceptions by store, customer, and employee to identify opportunities.
- Works with Management team to establish sales goals and hold team accountable.
- Directs parts purchasing efforts to balance needs of the company, customer, and vendors.
- Works collaboratively with service management team to identify stocked inventory need to support shop repairs.
- Works closely with parts vendors to negotiate preferred pricing and programs to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction, select quality products and suppliers, and ensure vendors provide adequate training opportunities.
- Works with managers, HR, and owners to identify and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Ensures clean and safe working environment for employees.
- Collaborates with marketing manager and vendors to decide on promotions.
- Guides parts team to ensure compliance with company policies for recruitment, hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for conducting monthly one on one with all parts team members and creating employee development plans as needed.
- Works collaboratively with service team to achieve company goals.
- Participates in vendor and company sponsored management meetings and trainings.
- Provides training and coaching for parts team members.
- Develops annual capital expense budget.
- Work closely with factory and supplier field service & warranty teams.
- Develops annual parts plan to outline current and future needs, problems, and opportunities.
- Help identify and create improved organizational and department level processes.
- Guides parts team in building strong customer relationships by providing superior customer service and a positive, problem-solving approach to every interaction.

Physical Requirements
This role requires frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools, controls, and objects while sitting.
