Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Janitor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in a government office, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and hygienic environment for all occupants. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks efficiently.
The job will be for 2.5 hours per day, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. (The weekend service may be done either Saturday afternoon or anytime on Sunday.) Work must be done when offices are closed, so generally between 5pm and 5am the following morning. However, for the next six weeks, the work should be done between 5pm and 10pm, as the client is in a busy season, and will have extra people working outside those hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to maintain cleanliness in assigned areas.
- There is some lifting involved, as bags of recycling must be lifted and emptied into a dumpster, separating the plastic bag.
- Assist with facilities maintenance by reporting any repairs or maintenance needs to management.
- Ensure restrooms are stocked, clean, and sanitized regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas, hallways, and entryways.
- Follow safety protocols while using cleaning chemicals and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques and floor care practices is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to travel between job sites if necessary.
