Location : Chicopee, MA
Schedule : 8am-4pm Monday-Friday
Pay : $21 per hour plus benefits

We have open Instructor positions available at our Skillbuilders Makerspace program. This program is an art, technology and engineering space and day program where people with common interests can meet, learn, socialize, and collaborate The Instructor will be responsible for mentoring a cohort of individuals with various disabilities, instructing several daily skill and curriculum-based art, technology, carpentry or engineering workshops and pursuing ongoing professional development to stay proficient in teaching the applicable subject areas. The position is also responsible for coordinating and implementing community-based activities and vocational or creative exploration opportunities for members. The instructor will use a variety of settings to assist individuals in furthering skills such as socialization, relationship building, communication and self-advocacy. This position requires someone with previous experience or expertise engaging in the relevant subject areas, strong communication skills and a willingness to instruct classes involving not only the population primarily served at the program but the general community as well. This position often involves working independently in a community setting with multiple individuals and requires good judgement to intervene and respond to incidents and emergency situations.
Responsibilities :
Model treatment interventions established by a members treatment team as documented in the Individual Service Plan.Access or develop evidence-based curriculum to utilize in facilitating regular educational training opportunities for members.Provide specific interventions in learning and community settings as outlined in the treatment plan.Implement a learning framework that prompts members to manipulate various tools, media and materials both in guided and free creation.Construct and update the scope and sequence of instruction that advances higher order thinking.Guide and celebrate the creative process without defining or limiting the members workStretch the learning potential with open-ended cues and questionsGather and organize data regarding attendance and effectiveness of programResearch, develop and prototype innovative maker activitiesDemonstrate and share technical know-howTroubleshoot and repair Maker tools and equipment including hardware and softwareDevelop and maintain a materials list that anticipates needs in a timely mannerInstructs members on safe use of toolsConsistently seeks new experiences and opportunities for learningDevelop progress notes describing each members contact and how that contact relates to treatment goals.Collaborate with other members of the treatment team and other professionals including participation in treatment planning meetings.Provide transportation to individuals in the program as assigned.Collaborating with staff and clinicians to understand the ways in which activities can promote healing and belonging.Any other tasks assigned by program management.General Qualifications :

Desired Qualifications :
Experience leading artistic lessons or activities preferably in more than one disciplineExperience with maker labs and toolsExperience with project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and / or blended learningExperience with scripting and coding languagesExperience teaching robotics and codingExperience with 3D design and productionExperience working in and / or leading a MakerspaceExperience with carpentry / building, auto mechanics, and / or engineeringExperience teaching technical or trade skills to individuals with disabilitiesMinimum Requirements :
