Job Description
This leadership role involves managing low-voltage cabling projects, supervising teams of technicians, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality installations and services. As a Lead Technician, you will leverage your expertise to oversee the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of data, telecom, and security systems while managing manpower needs and project schedules. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical skills, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A.
- Perform copper terminations for patch panels, modular jacks, faceplates, SMBs, and consolidation points (CP).
- Handle fiber optic installations, including rough-in practices, handling procedures, and terminations (mechanical/fusion).
- Build and organize MDF/IDF rooms, including:
- Installing overhead tray/ladder racking.
- Setting up racks and server cabinets.
- Rack-and-stack equipment installations.
- Lead data center installations, audio/visual setups, security camera installations, and WAP deployments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in data and telecom systems.
- Test and verify copper and fiber cable functionality.
- Read and interpret advanced blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Utilize advanced construction knowledge to oversee project success.
- Manage multiple technicians, tasks, and project timelines.
- Plan and forecast manpower needs, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Utilize computer software (MS Office, Excel, Word, etc.) to maintain project documentation and communication.
- Valid WA EL06 Low Voltage Electrical License (required).
- 2 years of experience in low-voltage installation and service for Tier 1 candidates.
- 4 years of experience for Tier 2 candidates with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Strong expertise in low-voltage systems, including cabling, fiber optics, data centers, and security systems.
- Proven ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, including advanced blueprints and schematics.
- Solid understanding of construction principles and best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and related computer tools.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
