Job Description
ServicePoint is seeking motivated and Low Voltage EL06 Technician Trainees to join our team in Washington. This position involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling systems, as well as working with data and communications infrastructure.
As a Low Voltage Technician Trainee, you will work with cutting-edge technology and support the construction and maintenance of critical systems in data, telecom, and security applications. Candidates should have a strong desire to learn and grow, as well as an understanding of basic construction practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A.
- Perform copper terminations for patch panels, modular jacks, faceplates, SMBs, and consolidation points (CP).
- Install and handle fiber optic cables, ensuring proper rough-in practices, handling procedures, and terminations (mechanical/fusion).
- Build and organize MDF/IDF rooms, including:
- Installing overhead tray/ladder racking.
- Setting up racks and server cabinets.
- Rack-and-stack equipment installations.
- Install audio/visual systems and security cameras.
- Install and configure wireless access points (WAP).
- Troubleshoot data and telecommunications systems.
- Test and verify copper and fiber cable functionality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Apply basic construction knowledge in day-to-day operations.
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage cabling and telecommunications systems.
- Familiarity with copper and fiber testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
- Basic construction knowledge and hands-on installation skills.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn in a team environment.
