S:US is seeking a bilingual Social Worker/Trauma Informed Care Specialist for our domestic violence shelter in Manhattan.

 

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Trauma Informed Care Specialist  will be responsible for the overall delivery and coordination of  services for Domestic Violence survivors  at the Aegis  Emergency  DV  shelter. The TIC  Social Worker will  ensure  that  families are in receipt of optimal care and service coordination; be responsible for the completion of psychosocial assessments of complex families impacted by multiple systems. Assess family needs and facilitate appropriate linkages for families to community based services. Work within a crisis driven environment with a knowledge base of trauma informed care practices , domestic violence, children services and mental health conditions.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide biweekly individual trauma counseling • Provide weekly group counseling for trauma survivors • Refer severe trauma survivors (children, teenagers and adults) to outside mental health agencies• Provide family counseling when applicable• Provide weekly counseling to children/teenagers when necessary• Refer resident to appropriate staff members at Aegis for all concrete services not directly associated with their mental health.• Complete individual and group notes in a timely fashion• Provide “Steps to Safety” Pre/Post assessments for all families in program to assess level of safety planning families have developed during their time at Aegis. • Accompany residents to psychiatric emergency service appointments when necessary• Work with outside mental health agencies to monitor residents’ compliance with treatment and progress in treatment • Participate in biweekly clinical meetings to collaborate with clinical staff to ensure the resident is receiving the most effective services available• Complies with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols.• Working knowledge of various computer software programs including email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.• Evening and weekend hours may be required. • Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director or Supervisor of Social Services

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology.
  • Licensure (LMSW, LMHC), Limited Certification will be accepted
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in client assessment, trauma informed care, experience identifying the following: PTSD, vicarious trauma, crisis counseling, case planning and coordination is desired. Solid knowledge of domestic violence issues.
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills needed. An ability to work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

English/Spanish speaking preferred
