Job Title: Box Truck Driver
Job Summary:
The Box Truck Driver assists with organizing food distribution events within designated Denver West Neighborhoods. The driver supports the Essential Services team in transporting food and additional resources to these events.
Job Status: Temporary Part-Time (20-25 hours a week)
Division: Essential Services/Human Services
Location: 3131 W 14th Ave, Denver, CO 80204
Reports to: Director of Essential Services
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck or van to transport goods to assigned locations, ensuring delivery on time while following all traffic and safety laws.
- Perform vehicle inspections to ensure proper working conditions and report any mechanical issues or repairs.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and nonprofit policies while driving.
- Pulling customer orders and loading company trucks or vans.
- Delivering/receiving food supplies and resources.
- Interfacing with our customers and providing excellent customer service.
- Organizing and cleaning the food pantry space.
- Cleaning equipment.
- Qualified driving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Well-organized with attention to detail.
- Positive interpersonal skills and strong work ethics.
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
- Ability to move from one task to another efficiently.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Warehouse Equipment knowledge preferred.
- Food safety knowledge preferred.
- Required Availability: Monday to Saturday from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm (part-time schedule will be determined based on need within these hours).
- Prolonged periods sitting in a vehicle/truck and operating the vehicle/truck safely.
- Prepare food distribution area; ensure that food is stored and stocked in compliance with food safety expectations.
- Maintain timely detailed records of all clients’ interactions and other required documentation that conforms to best practice standards, Food Safety/OSHA guidelines and SDLR Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of client’s records.
- Attending training and meetings as assigned by the supervisor.
- All members of the SDLR workforce are expected to support the agency’s fundraising objectives. Tasks may include active fundraising, grant development, solicitation of donations, agency ambassadorship, informational outreach, and public speaking.
- All members of the SDLR workforce are expected to support the agency’s community outreach, engagement, and recruitment efforts.
- All members of the SDLR workforce are expected to support and engage in advocacy for social justice, community outreach and engagement, and bring voice to the voiceless.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by leadership.
Requirement Education and Credentialing:
- High school diploma
- One to three years of relevant experience
- Copy of a recent Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Driving record.
- Good Driving Record with valid Colorado License required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- 110-person workforce situated across multiple regional offices.
- ADA accessible, Active Safety Committee.
- Ability to perform basic office duties.
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull boxes weighing up to 35 pounds and infrequently up to 50 pounds.
- Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures.
- Walk, squat, and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes.
- Good vision (corrective lenses allowed) to read road signs, navigate, and ensure safe driving.
- Adequate hearing (hearing aids permitted) to detect warning signals, sirens, or other auditory cues.
