Job Goal(s): The Computer Installation and Repair Technology Instructor is responsible for teaching students the fundamental principles and practical skills necessary for successful careers in computer hardware installation, repair, and maintenance. In addition, the instructor will teach students the fundamental principles of robotics, including design, construction, programming, and operation. This role involves developing and implementing curriculum, facilitating hands-on learning experiences, and preparing students for industry certifications.
Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the high school level or vocational/technical education setting is desirable.
- Proficiency in instructional design, curriculum development, and classroom management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation.
- Supervises classroom and students and Educational Technician and volunteers.
- Maintains a high degree of discipline in the classroom to ensure maximum learning.
- Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
- Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
- Accountable for the cleanliness of classroom/lab/storage areas.
- Prepares reports such as requisitions and quarterly student grades.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education.
- Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Work cooperatively with all aspects of the school administrative team/faculty and citizens to ensure the highest quality of educational programs.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Director or designee.
- Maine DOE Certification - Certification or eligibility: Computer Information Services (823) or Computer Teacher(680)
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation (If itinerant position)
- Curriculum Development: Design, develop, and update curriculum content in alignment with industry standards and educational objectives.
- Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive instruction in computer installation, repair, and maintenance techniques.
- Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, and software related to computer hardware.
- Foster a collaborative learning environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- Hands-On Training: Provide hands-on training opportunities for students to practice computer assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
- Supervise and guide students in real-world projects, simulations, and lab exercises.
- Technical Support: Offer technical assistance and support to students encountering challenges during practical activities.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues within the classroom/lab environment.
- Safety and Compliance:Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in the handling of computer hardware, tools, and equipment.
- Instruct students on safe working practices and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Industry Partnerships: Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industry professionals, and educational institutions to enhance student learning experiences.
- Arrange guest lectures, industry visits, and internship opportunities for students to gain real-world exposure.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of advancements in computer hardware technology, industry trends, and educational methodologies through continuous professional development.
- Pursue relevant certifications and credentials to enhance teaching expertise and credibility.
- Previous experience in computer hardware installation, repair, or technical support roles preferred.
- Maintains confidentiality concerning all aspects of student performance including written and oral records.
- Demonstrates respect for the legal and human rights of students and staff.
- Follows health and safety procedures established by RSU9/ FCTEC.
- Arrives and departs punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage.
- Demonstrates dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards.
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree in related area preferred.
- Must have practical experience in the subject/trade area.
- Optional Industry Credentials: Cisco Certified Network Associate; CompTIA Essentials; CompTIA Strata Fundamentals of IT; Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT); or ISC(2)certification
