Position Overview
Erskine Academy’s school-based service includes: psycho-education, case management, assessment, evaluations, consultation and brief substance abuse and/or mental health counseling.
Student needs/problems are assessed on an individual basis and are provided with
recommendations on how to address the concerns within this context or to other
community or school services. This service is geared toward those students who have
barriers to community services and/or would benefit from a liaison to community
services; however, the service is extended to all appropriate referrals as time allows.

Erskine Academy’s Mental Health/Substance Abuse Counselor will maintain appropriate record keeping and documentation of activities. The Counselor will report directly to the Headmaster. Standards of licensing and credentialing will be maintained, including supervision and training.

Required:
- MSW (Masters in Social Work), or MA/MS in Psychology
- Licensed (or has qualification to be licensed) in the state of Maine with any of the following credentials: LCSW or LCPC
- At least two years of experience in community mental health
- Documented experience with those who have substance abuse issues
- Documented successful experience working with teenagers
