CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Employer : 318 Construction
Job Title : Construction Estimator
Reports to : Lead Estimator & Reconstruction Coordinator
Pay : 18-22 / hr
Summary
The Construction Estimator is responsible for managing a wide range of functions
necessary to successfully obtain, bid and price construction projects. They are
responsible for ensuring an accurate scope of work is created, delivering a consistent
and complete estimate, and maintaining a high quality of service in all dealings with
customers, clients, and resource providers involved in construction services.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
1. Xactimate
a. Learn how to best use the Xactimate estimating platform
b. Work towards completing the various levels of certifications for
Xactimate.
c. Provide Xactimate support to Project Managers and other 318 personnel
2. Estimates including Change Orders & Supplements
a. Utilize construction scopes and Docusketch to produce preliminary
estimates for Project Managers
b. Deliver a consistent and well-defined initial estimate that follows 318
Estimatics
c. Ensure estimates comply with any program guidelines
d. Recognize potential scope issues and report to Project Manager
e. Work with Project Managers to price bid items, if needed
f. Write Change Orders and Supplements as requested
3. Reports
a. Produce needed reports for all preliminary estimates
b. Produce various reports for other 318 personnel as needed

Necessary Experience and Skill Set
Effective written and oral communication
Advanced math skills
Proficient use of Xactimate estimating software
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Team Player
Formal Education / Training
BA in engineering, construction science or similar relevant field preferred
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Majority of time will be spent in an office environment. Occasionally, there will be need
to visit job sites both locally and at other franchise locations.
Normal Working Hours, Additional Working Hours, and Travel Requirements
This is a full-time position, working 8 : 00 a.m.5 : 00 p.m., MondayFriday, 40 hours per
week. Travel is rare but possible when on-site estimating is needed.
