The Equipment Specialist supports the Equipment Manager by maintaining current product lines and identifying, evaluating, and validating new equipment products and technologies. Responsibilities include operating equipment, monitoring performance, and providing customer support via phone and email, leveraging strong product knowledge.
You will
- Develop working knowledge of all equipment to include general operation, troubleshooting steps, and repair actions.
- Handle in-bound calls and emails concerning all aspects of the professional equipment line.
- Provide guidance and expertise to help diagnosis issues and provide recommended repair steps.
- Support new equipment validation process - specifically perform initial equipment set up, operation and breakdown.
- Record data on spreadsheets during evaluation process. Provide write-ups and notes summarizing evaluation and product suggestions. Assist in equipment, documentation editing and review, including manuals, parts lists, and product education videos.
- Maintain equipment receipt, storage and shipping. Maintain and organize test cell area.
- Participate in the development and amendment of equipment testing protocols used in equipment evaluation.
- Coordinate, process, and transport truck mount installations with Product and Vehicle Sales departments and truck mount installers. Create and maintain documentation and photos for files for each installation.
- Support the RMA/Warranty Analysts with processing paperwork and evaluating returned items.
- Help maintain and edit online documentation/ education for equipment work group.
- Support a continuous improvement attitude and environment; strives to enhance offerings and results.
- Assist the Equipment Manager in preparing technical documents and/or presentations as needed.
- Work cross-functionally with division teams to implement and support system/divisional changes.
- Coordinate employee equipment “take home” program. Schedule, track and assess equipment designated as employee “take home” equipment.
- Provide divisional support outside of stated role as needed.
- Work with Department Managers to ensure shared resources are available to meet divisional and corporate goals.
- 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance and/or equipment troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and maintenance tools.
- Self-starter mentality.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate and provide technical support with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner.
- Familiarity with the water and fire restoration environment or experience with a related business such as auto parts or hardware store would be beneficial.
- Experience handling multiple tasks effectively and in an organized manner.
- Adaptability and the ability to work with competing demands as this role is heavily influenced by outside factors such as storm and franchise demand.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- A strong desire to support the franchises and corporate strategic plan and be a team player.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
