a Water Mitigation Technician, you will play a critical role in responding to water damage emergencies, assessing affected areas, and implementing effective mitigation procedures to minimize damage. You will work closely with project managers, property owners, and insurance companies to ensure efficient restoration and a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to emergency water damage calls.
- Assess and evaluate water-damaged areas to determine the extent of the damage.
- Use specialized equipment to extract water, dry affected areas, and prevent further damage.
- Set up and monitor drying systems, dehumidifiers, and air movers.
- Perform moisture readings, documentation, and reporting for insurance purposes.
- Clean and disinfect affected areas to prevent mold growth and contamination.
- Work with a team to perform demolition, drying, and restoration work as needed.
- Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates and answering any questions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety guidelines, and industry standards.
- Maintain and properly store equipment and tools.
Qualifications:
- Experience in water damage restoration, mitigation, or related field preferred.
- Familiarity with water extraction, drying techniques, and moisture readings.
- Ability to use mitigation equipment such as dehumidifiers, air movers, and moisture meters.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer service mindset.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Certification from the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) or willingness to obtain it is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Capable of working in confined spaces, attics, or crawl spaces when necessary.
- Comfortable working in wet, humid, and varying temperature conditions.
