Primary Responsibilities:
Stockers must be able to stock the standard number of cases per hour which is set at 45 cases per hour for Dry goods and 40 cases per hour for chill and frozen. Failure to uphold this standard can result in disciplinary actions being taken and or termination of employment.
· Stockers will clean all shelf areas in their sections prior to stocking.
· Shelf areas that are not accessible due to staged merchandise will be cleaned during the stocking process.
· All old merchandise will be dusted to preclude dust build up.
· Stockers are responsible to ensure that their shelves and shelf moldings and ESL rails and ESL labels are free of dust (to include NIS areas), tape, spills and self-adhesive backing prior to stocking new merchandise.
· The merchandise you will stock will be transported from the staging area to the appropriate store aisle location by means of hand pallet jacks.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Pull pallets of merchandise from the warehouse to store locations to facilitate stocking.
- Stockers will take care not to damage commissary merchandise.
- Any merchandise found to be damaged, will not be stocked, but will be segregated by food and non-food categories and then placed into carts for disposition.
- As cardboard is generated it will be broken down and discarded appropriately.
- Cut open boxes using issued box cutters and abide by safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Communication - convey information effectively.
- Attention to Detail - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
- Reasoning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems i.e. Able to determine number of products to fill allocation shelving.
Experience and Education: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); None
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The associate is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and reaches from 6-72 inches. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color, and depth perception.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to wet, hot, or cold conditions and moving material and handling equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
